Abstract
The article discusses the main features of the landscape in works of art and analyzes the features of the use of landscape sketches in the work of Mikhail Sholokhov. Through the technique of benchmarking study and the characteristics of the landscape features in the works of literature identified methodological features of the application landscape sketches by the example of Mikhail Sholokhov's creativity. It was found that the landscape sketches are part of a composite value that is used in the description and disclosure of the characters of works of art.
