Abstract
The article is devoted to Lermontov's translations of the poems by Heine and Goethe. The focus is the studying of the semantic variation's motives of Russian translator from the original texts. The author takes into account the results of the predecessor's of observations in the study of this question. At the same time it offers original conclusions about the conceptual differences of Russian and German poets in the basic concepts of life and death.
