Abstract
The paper aims to analyze the linguistic tools used to represent the author of academic papers. The paper based on the material of papers published in engineering Russian and English journals. The author concludes that the main tools of author representation are as follows: first-person singular and plural pronouns, descriptions (автор, author). The author often tends to imply their presence in the text by using impersonal, indefinite personal constructions.
