SOCIAL VOLUNTEERING: GENERAL APPROACHES AND THE DEFINITION OF THE TERM

Abstract
The article is devoted to the definition of "volunteering". A brief history of its development in world practice and in Russia is considered, the focus is on the transition from the original understanding of this term in a military context to a better understanding of its social significance. The definition of social volunteering is done, the areas covered by this activity are represented.
