Abstract
The paper contemplates the psychological aspects of cross-cultural intercourse. The cognitive flexibility is considered as the major psychological factor affecting the efficiency of cross-cultural communication. In order to develop the students’ cognitive flexibility the author suggests the number of principles to be used when teaching a foreign language as a means of international intercourse.
