ARTISTIC ADAPTATION OF DOCUMENTALISM IN THE ENGLISH SHORT STORY OF THE SECOND HALF OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract
The article deals with specifics of artistic adaptation of the «document» in the English short story of the second half of the XX century. The short stories by J. Fowles and J. Barnes are taken as the example. During the research process the author of the article reveals various ideologically – artistic functions of documentary material in works of a short genre by the mentioned writers. Unlike novelistic heritage of Fowles and Barnes, studying of a short genre of the writers in such perspective still wasn't carried out, what determines relevance and newness of the research conducted.
