Abstract
The article deals with the peculiarities of publicistic texts relevant for their translation. The authors analyze these peculiarities based on the headlines to the papers published in voanews.com. The article emphasizes that both the awareness of peculiarities of English headlines and background knowldge of the translator provide the translation quality.
