Abstract
The article discusses the phenomenon of duality reflected in the literature of Romanticism, described the reasons for its implementation in the works of this epoch. The influence of this phenomenon on the creations of such prominent representative of German romanticism, as E.T.A/ Hoffman, developed a typology of sibling heroes, analyzes the structural features of the submission of duality.
