Abstract
The article reveals the peculiarities of formation, development and the eradication of the MTS in the Penza region. The focus of the work is given to the analysis of material and technical base of farms. The study shows that the shortage of financial resources and technology of machine-tractor stations were of the form of the concentration of production and capital, which contributed to the creation of the necessary conditions for the withdrawal of agriculture from the crisis.
