Abstract
The article considers the problem of stay of prisoners or war from the Great Army of Napoleon in the Vyatka province in 1812-1814. According to orders of central and military power local authorities the prisoners were engaged in work. Craftsmen were directed to factories, teachers, artists and musicians – to cultural sphere and other – to public works. As a result expends for their maintenance were covered. Many of the prisoners of war could improve their financial position and mental health.
