Abstract
The nature of the Russian Empire colonial policy of the northern part of Kazakhstan in the second half the XVIII century and the character of relations between the colonial authorities of the Middle Juz are described in the article.
Russia used mostly military actions that were not always advisedly at the first stage of the colonization of Kazakhstan. Russia was not strong enough to subordinate to this region, that’s why on this stage of Russian – Kazakh relations, tsarist government paid great attention to relations with the Kazakh nobility. Appeal of the Kazakh nobility to the military authorities became one of the steps towards formation of the Kazakh tribes. Russia also used traditional institutes of diplomacy in relation to the nobility. This fact is confirmed by the archival documents, and helps to highlight the problems of joining and colonizations of Kazakhstan.
