Abstract
The paper contemplates different ways of translation anthroponymic namings of pagan deities from English into Russian in the novel “American Gods” by Neil Gaiman. The received data can be useful for understanding the necessary skills and knowledge for translator, who works with namings. The current growing interest to the mythology and religion provides the topicality of the research question.
