Abstract
Universities play important role in the modern economy. The study of the statistical data and the report and information materials demonstrates that the Southern Federal University facilitates innovation development of the Rostov Region, and this development itself strengthens requirements of its involvement in the innovation economy growth in the given region. The consideration of the inflation does not question the validity of these conclusions.
