Abstract
From the position of symbolic interactionism, instrumental behaviour is based on personal desires, such as love for the beautiful, euphony, incense, benefits, and reflects the impulse to follow which the subjective I am inclined. When human behavior is impulsive, then the social order is threatened by the decay, so the Confucians formulated the principles of righteousness and propriety, and has developed laws and regulations. A system of Confucian ethics has been established to be hopefully transfered to the people through agents of socialization.
