Abstract
The article considers the stance of the Russian Orthodox Church on the ways of national identity formation. Positing the universal nature of the Church, the authors analyze the concept of 'orthodox patriotism'. From the authors' point of view, the Russian Orthodox Church sees a human being as a moral and spiritual personality with a unique culture. At the same time, the personality is part of the mankind and therefore bears its features.
