Abstract
By 1916, during the First World War, the parties came to the so-called "positional crisis." Defense in depth on all fronts negate all attempts to offensive actions. It seemed, the defense finally got the better of the offensive. But a hundred years ago, in June 1916, Brusilov (Lutsk), a breakthrough of the Russian army proved the opposite.
