Abstract
The article focuses on the formation and functioning of diminutives in modern Spanish. Particular emphasis is placed on morphological means of expressing the category of diminutiveness; a set of diminutive suffixes are described; an analysis of their use in both Standard Spanish and its peninsular varieties is presented.
