RURIK (RURIK, RORIK) CHRONICLED AND HIS LITERARY PROTOTYPE HRŒREKR (RŒREKR ,RŒGENVALD)

Abstract
In this article the author doesn't consider Rurik as an individual; there is no Rurik's ethnicity research; the article doesn't show key historical events connected with his being in Novgorod and there is no discussion about his role in state-building of Rus in some special way. The main aim of this article is to find the answers to the following questions:when, who by and in what conditions Rurik was recorded in the Beginning chronicle.
