Abstract
Korea exerts tolerance towards such fundamental Confucian values as nationalism and diversity. Koreans to a greater extent express their interest in foreigners, rather freely receive guests from overseas and travel all over the world. The Japanese society is more homogeneous and to a less extent open towards foreign cultures. The Korean diversity is probably accounted for the geographical location and history: the Korean peninsular was subjected to both the Chinese and the Japanese invasions, whilst Japan had never been an objective of any mass foreign invasion.
