Abstract
The article focuses on the social status of employment in the nonprofit sector. On the basis of status (stratification) and resource approaches we attempted to describe the features of the social status of this social group. Based data from various empirical studies we showed the limited explanatory power of the Weberian traditionto understand the social status of people employed in non-profit sector. It is shown that the use of the resource approach provides a greater understanding of the status of the hierarchy of the Russian society, including the definition of the place of the nonprofit sector in it.
