Abstract
The article deals with the question of whether there has been in the history of the Russian state institute similar to the Inquisition. It is noted that the inquisitorial methods, including execution, if not rampant, it took place. And they were used against the persons accused of volhovanii, sorcery and witchcraft, and against heresies as well as to impose orthodoxy among indigenous peoples.
