Abstract
The article deals with the linguistic units used for verbalization of the speaking subject. The article uses scientific and technical papers published in English engineering journals as a research material. To describe the linguistic markers of the speaking subject we use the criterion of prototypicality according to which we categorized all linguistic units into prototypical and atypical. The first person singular and plural pronouns are prototypical markers of the speaking subject, while impersonal and indefinite personal constructions are atypical ones.
