Abstract
It is attempted to answer two questions in the article: is it religious spirituality in particular the Orthodoxy a way of exit out of spiritual crisis in contemporary Russia? Did Russian Orthodox clergy keep that spirituality that propagandize? It is attempted to show that religious spirituality did not save the Russian empire from the crisis at the begin of the 20th century that’s why «revival» of Orthodoxy in contemporary conditions must be considered as archaization of society. The examples of non-canonic behavior of clergy as well non-observance of the rules of Orthodoxy from the hand of mere mortals are given.
