Abstract
This article is devoted to studying the human attitude and world perception of the critical era at the end of the XIX - the beginning of the 20th century. For disclosure of this subject, the analysis of A.P. Chekhov’s work, "The Cherry Orchard," is used. This play has been chosen not incidentally, for the writer most precisely explains the mood of the person of the crisis era and also the general atmosphere of that time.
