Abstract
Relevance of the article is determined by growing importance of the service sector in Russia and by need to study of the determinants of service workers’ professional success. The results of empirical research on socio-psychological characteristics of waiters working in Rostov-on-Don and Rostov region are presented. Peculiarities of social intelligence and personality traits of waiters of different sexes, with different experience and working conditions are revealed and interrelated set of characteristics of "successful" waiter is defined.
