THE INFLUENCE OF MAIN BRITISH HISTORICAL EVENTS ON ENGLISH LEXIS

Abstract
The object of research in this article is English lexis. The matter under study is the influence of the main British History events on it. The author analyses forming English lexis in different historical epochs and demonstrates the origin and mechanisms of borrowing foreign words that made this language one of the most lexically heterogeneous languages in Europe. The novelty of the article consists in briefly viewing forming English lexis on the background of wide socio-linguistic issues.
