Abstract
In this article, the first in Russian historiography provides a brief overview of the exchange of prisoners of war between Russia and Turkey in 1914-1918. Using archival documents, the author identifies the main categories of prisoners, it is assumed by the parties to the exchange; shows that the greatest success achieved Petrograd and Istanbul in exchange of persons unfit for further military service; comes to the conclusion that, eventually neither Russia nor Turkey, did not show enough interest to the exchange of prisoners of war.
