Abstract
Ancient skepticism is one of important and interesting types and styles of thought. However both Russian and foreign historical and philosophical researches do not pay enough attention to it. Most often it is treated as a secondary philosophical direction of late antiquity or as a discourse very close to agnosticism and relativism. The author gives a brief review of historical and philosophical sources about ancient skepticism. He shows its main interpretations and concludes that it can be a kind of historical and philosophical «virgin soil» working on which can be interesting and fruitful in the context of modern philosophical issues.
