Abstract
This article refers to the research foundations of teaching students the Russian language. The author reveals the concept of "research activity", speaks about its main tasks, indicates the direction of this pedagogical method. Special attention is paid to the description and analysis of the functions of research work of pupils in learning the Russian language. The author also provides recommendations for the implementation of the research on the lessons of the Russian language and literature.
