AbstractIn what order do new Bible translations appear? First are literal. Literalism reproduces sacred past. Later retellings tend to choose semantic analogues closer to the reader. Zaoksky Bible is a conservative modernization of the Synodal translation, written in the context of the current Western Bible Studies. It follows the strategy of the Russian Bible Society translation (2011) without harshness, grassroots vocabulary and demonstrative break with the monastic spirit of Russian Orthodoxy.
