Abstract
Philosophico-religious basis and place of icon in the Christian art are researched in the article. Ihe main definitions of the concept of “icon” are observed. VII Ecumenical Council and 73, 82, 100 Trulskyy Cathedral referzing to the icon-painting were used in carly Christian religious art are described. Ihe important arguments of the restoration of icons vcneration, The permit write icons and have them in chapels are provided.
