POLES IN LITHUANIA AND BELARUS IN THE SECOND HALF OF XIX – EARLY XX CENTURY

Abstract
This article is devoted to the process of formation of the Polish nation in Lithuania and Belarus in the second half of XIX - early XX century. Formation of the Polish nation followed the path of initiation of Catholic peasants to the high culture of the elite, unlike other peoples of Eastern Europe, where the newly emerging elite formed on the basis of high culture and peasant farmers are attached to it. The main distribution channels of the Polish national idea became Catholic churches and secret education.
