Abstract
This article examines the works of Russian publicist conservative V.P. Meshchersky, publisher of the magazine-newspaper «the Citizen», written in the footsteps of his trips to the theatre of war Russo-Turkish war of 1877-1878, the article examines the complex issues raised by the author, opposition to the regime regarding foreign and domestic policy. Considered the dominant issues, system images, expressive means, the substantiation of the choice of genre forms and peculiarities of the author's position.
