Abstract
The article gives a review of development of credit cooperation among Russian peasantry during second half of XIX – beginning of XX centuries. Special attention is paid to the rate of its development, most typical forms of organization and creation of central bodies. The author investigates attempts of creation of juridical base for more efficient development of ‘folk credit’. All political barriers that occurred on this way are also marked.
