Abstract
The article based on the analysis of the national and foreign literature, memoirs and the insufficiently studied register of births of Roman-Catholic St Catherine Alexandrine’s church in Saint-Petersburg deals with the role of the Russian monarchs in the life of St. Petersburg Catholics in the first half of the XVIII century. The author has come to the conclusion that the Russian monarchs actively participated in the life of the Roman Catholic community, besides they had patronizing attitude towards the Catholics, arrived at the service in Russia.
