POLES IN LITHUANIA AND BELARUS FROM ANCIENT TIMES TO THE MIDDLE OF THE XIX CENTURY

Abstract
This article describes the history of Poles in Lithuania and Belarus from ancient times to the middle of the XIX century. Polish population in Lithuania and Belarus formed as a result of long interethnic interaction of West, Baltic and Eastern Slavs. In this formation played a role in the resettlement of Poles from Poland, but mainly political, religious and cultural influence of the Polish Kingdom at the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
