Abstract
The paper presents the author's classification of approaches and analysis of the existing methodological tools to assess socio-cultural potential of the region. The author has developed a scheme for a comprehensive analysis of the socio-cultural development, including the cultural and social components. The paper gives the analyzed indicators for each block of the scheme.
