EASTERN ORTHODOX MONASTERIES… FOR TURKISH PRISONERS OF WAR

Abstract
The article discusses facts quartering Turkish prisoners of war in XVII - XIX centuries in the residential and office premises belonging to the Russian Orthodox Church. The author concludes that despite limitations and contradictions of this practice, in general, it indicates a high level of Christian charity of the Orthodox clergy and his willingness to compromise with the secular authorities.
