Abstract
The article analyzes the functioning of obsolete words in the work of M. Y. Lermontov's «А Song about Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich, young Oprichnik and swashbuckling merchant Kalashnikova». Examines the role of historicisms and archaisms in creating the flavor of the historical-ski time, described in the work.
