Abstract
The paper discusses the origins of the school of lawyers in China and Europe, the analysis of the relationship of the legists to ancient traditions, the character of relations between the state and citizens from the perspective of the legists, the choice of methods of strengthening the state, the purpose and function of law. On the basis of the conducted research the conclusion about the anti-humanist orientation of this concept.
