Abstract
The article presents an overview of the main models of understanding of international armed conflicts. We consider the historical dynamics of explanatory concepts of war. We compared the classic direction of realism and liberalism in understanding the nature of armed conflicts. It traces the transformation of the nature of the war, showing the main features of the armed conflicts of the XXI century in the works of contemporary authors.
