Abstract
This article is devoted to the question of modernization of the modern education system in Russia: a transition from a traditional paradigm to competence-based in the conditions of paradigmalnost. The author provides the comparative analysis of knowledge - focused, personal, culturological and competence-based paradigms of education in five bases: a purpose, relations of participants of educational process, the content of education, forms, methods and tutorials, forms of control and level of educational quality. As a result of the analysis the author comes to the conclusion that the leading role in modern society is assigned to the competence-based paradigm as only it fully reflects theoretically and almost reasonable social order of the state and society concerning training of children in a foreign language at school. During the research it is shown that only within a competence-based paradigm the common cultural and professional competences promoting creative activity, self-development and ability to operate effectively for interests of the society in standard and unusual situations, both on level professional, and on personal are formed.
