THE ALMORAVIDS AND THE ALMOHADS IN THE SCOPE OF THE PASSIONARITY THEORY OF ETHNOGENESIS

Abstract
The paper deals with the problem of genesis of new ethnos as the result of the movements of almoravids and almohads in Maghreb in XI-XII centuries in the scope of Lev Gumilev’s passionarity theory of ethnogenesis. It is argued that the Berber expansion was launched by the passionarity impulse VII, which let the new Berber ethnos to enter the acmatic phase in XI century and halt the Reconcista.
