Abstract
This paper discusses the place names Khangalassky ulus, the names of rivers, lakes and hills. The scientific discipline that deals with the origin and development of geographical names, their forms, semantic content and grammatical clearance is denoted by the Greek word "toponymy", which is based on topos – "place, locality" and onoma – "name". Toponyms are an integral part of the history of each locality. Located in the two major valleys of the great river Lena and river lowlands, Khangalassky region became the site of the first settlement of the ethnos of Sakha.
