AbstractIn contemporary pragmatic theories it is admitted that the adequate interpretation of phraseological unit semantic content depends in some degree from the arbitrary relations between the meanings of its components and its coherent idiomatic se-mantics. At the same time, the pragmatic processes of this interaction while perceiving and interpretation of metaphors and phraseological units have not been studied properly.
