Abstract
The article is the first resumptive essay of Gaston Leroux’s little-known works, created during the First World War. The works in question are considered in the overall context of works of this author, prominent in the domain of the French popular literature. His use of literary traditions (primarily the tradition of Jules Verne) is also taken into account.
