Abstract
The article examines the traditions farewell to Maslenitsa in the Novgorod province in the context of of modern theoretical ideas. The author clarifies the scheme of Nosova G.A. and classifies the Novgorod region to an area of Shrovetide bonfires various variations and modifications (fire pile, Mardi Gras, Carnival torch and mobile Maslenitsa). The author proves the thesis about the absence in Novgorod province tradition farewell to Maslenitsa with the use of stuffed dolls, allowing to correct the border of the so-called "Central-Volga region" type of celebration of Pancake week.
