MONASTERIES OF KARELIA IN THE NINETEENTH AND EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY

Abstract
The article investigates the revival of Orthodox communities of the North after the devastating for their processes of secularization. A major part of the monasteries during the study period accounted for at the time of significant changes in the public consciousness, caused by bourgeois reforms. In this regard, significantly increased the value of Orthodox monasteries as a bulwark of Christian spirituality and life standards.
