Abstract
The article considers a number of problems associated with the essence and structure of reflective consciousness. The author explores the functions of reflection in literary and cultural context and comes to the conclusion that there are 4 stages in the development of reflection. The theoretical model under study is confirmed by the analysis of processes of understanding in terms of logic artistic thinking.
