DIVIDE AND CONQUER AS A METHOD OF STATE POLICY CONCERNING THE ORTHODOX CHURCH OF THE MOSCOW RUSSIA OF THE XVI CENTURY

Abstract
In this article the author explores the methods and forms of state policy in respect of the Orthodox Church, adopted in Muscovy in the XVI century. On the basis of archival materials, the author, eventually comes to the conclusion that the idea of secularization of Church (monastery) of land was not a leading in the political consciousness of Ivan III, his son and grandson. De facto speaking periodically with such a proposal, supporting nil of Sorsk and Vassian patrikeeva power shared the senior hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church, and thus made them more compliant and compliant.
